Julie has worked as a teacher for many years, using her degree in Language, Reading and Special Educational Needs to teach both primary school children, high school children  and children with special needs of all ages.

Working with two different groups of child gave Julie valuable insights, not just into what enables children to learn, and  to read fluently, but also the factors that get in the way of a child’s understanding.  When these obstacles are removed, it becomes much easier for each child to progress.  The techniques for effective learning can then be put into practise.

She believes in a complete multi-sensory approach to learning and teaching, combining the best of a variety of techniques to achieve a high level of reading performance from an early age.  These include using the child’s own language, sight reading and phonics. She has developed 7Step Reading® which provides parents and educators with a step-by-step manual for ensuring any child can read well.

Not only are the techniques easy to put into action, they are also highly effective.  Julie perfected them on her own three children, who could all read and write before school age.
